After attending Weatherford College for two years, Brett decided that it might be time to move back home to Stamford, Texas. "Death Of Me" is written from Brett's point of view as he feels the unavoidable tension of needing to grow up (whatever that means). I guess a quarter-life crisis makes for decent songwriting material. The harmonica's a nice touch, too.

"Hold The Weight," Brett's most streamed single to date, is a song about growing old and weak. The painful lyrics are complemented with overdriven guitar tones, helping listeners feel a similar angst to that of the 90's and 2000's (with its own flavor). This song was recorded at Crystal Clear Sound In Dallas, Texas and was co-produced with Ethan Whitaker of 301Productions. Brett's pretty dang proud of this one.

"Unscathed" will go down as the turning point in Brett's songwriting career. Though only nineteen years-old at the time of writing, Brett writes from the point of view of a slightly older self surviving a reckless, nomadic life. The cover art of this single (along with every other release of Brett's) was designed by college roommate, Mikel McCarley. It pays ode to several important factors of Brett's life, including his famous Chrysler "Band Van," trusty checkered Vans shoes, Nolan Ryan Texas Rangers jersey, and the locally iconic Stamford, Texas water towers. Brett still plays this one at just about every show.

Life This Way

Brett Patterson

After discovering his love for songwriting in the dog days of COVID, Brett wasted no time in writing and releasing his first studio album, "Life This Way." While the record leads off with rockin' single, "Feather," it invokes an array of emotions from top to bottom. Each song was written solely by Brett Patterson.
